How Tim Quit Smoking & Lost Weight with the CBQ Program: Advice on Freedom, Mindset & Change

by Nasia Davos

Ask an Ex episode #36! In this interview, we’re welcoming the inspiring go-getter Tim Roberts from Queensland, Australia, who quit smoking with the Cognitive Behavioral Quitting (CBQ) Program on July 8, 2022. His transformation has been nothing short of incredible.

Tim smoked his first cigarette when he was 14 years old and smoked on and off for over 50 years. Throughout life, he also became addicted to alcohol and food. He was a “perfectionist emotional cripple,” and vices became his go-to coping mechanism. Even though Tim eventually quit alcohol, he could not let go of cigarettes.

When Tim was ready to quit smoking, he joined the CBQ Program and became a happy non-smoker. Soon after his quit date, Tim used the CBQ Program also to change his relationship with food and lost 28kg (60 pounds)!

In this episode, Tim openly and generously shares his journey, including:

  • Why deprivation is the antithesis of the recovery.
  • Lessons from his past attempts to quit smoking.
  • Why he could not quit smoking in the past, even though he had very important reasons to stop.
  • How to best do the CBQ Program.
  • Why yoyo diets and fad diets caused him to gain weight.
  • How Tim used the CBQ Program to change his relationship with food and remove his food addiction mindset.
  • What type of diet change worked for him.
  • Tim’s reasons for choosing the CBQ Program over other approaches.
  • And special wisdom and advice for anyone struggling to quit smoking.

Tune in to be inspired and gather valuable insights that could help you or someone you know to become smoke-free. Enjoy!
