Celebrating YOU: This week’s spotlights [May 14, 2025]

by Nasia Davos

Happy “Spotlight Day”!

Today, I’m excited to share with you some of this week’s most inspiring success stories and tips from the CBQ community.

Let’s dive in!

Inspiring Milestone

This week, CBQ Program member Dory Johnson from Colorado, US, celebrated 4 years nicotine-free! Dory started using the nicotine gum while trying to quit smoking. Instead of breaking free, she remained addicted to the nicotine gum for 14 years. For 14 years, Dory promised herself she’d quit but kept on chewing.

4 years ago, Dory came across the CBQ Program and decided to join. This changed everything for her. “CBQ Method turned my world upside down. This method steps, were uncoiling a matrix of thoughts, beliefs, shames, traumas, faux rewards, smoke and mirrors and really really altering my body’s bio-chemistry. She went in at each angle to help me unhook my relationship to nicotine.”

“If you are this path- I commend you. I did not know I could do it and here I am smiling at you with my certificate and drinking my coffee.”

4 years later, Dory is still nicotine-free and happy!

Inspiring Commitment

This week, CBQ Program member Paula Gibson from Ontario, Canada, celebrated 2 years smoke-free. Paula broke a 45-year addiction and completely transformed her relationship with smoking. When she was 4 months smoke-free, she lost her beloved mom and despite the grief and stress that came with this loss, Paula never turned to smoking because, as she told me, she had completely reprogrammed her mind. Paula knew smoking would do nothing to help her.

On her 1-year milestone, Paula is happy and looks back at her “life changing” success.

On her 2-year milestone, Paula is still a happy non-smoker!

Inspiring Success

This week, CBQ Program member Erin Langan from Pennsylvania, US, celebrated 3 years smoke-free! Erin was convinced she’ll never quit smoking, let alone feel content or happy without it! After lots of research and thinking, she decided to give the CBQ Program a proper shot and to her surprise, she made it! This is what Erin said: “I have tried many different methods to quit in the past but nothing worked. I’m so glad I found CBQ.”.. “I never thought I would make it through the first 24 hours.”

Now Erin is 3 years smoke-free!

CBQ Program member Erin Langan is now a happy non-smoker

This is Erin with her CBQ Success Certificate that she shared hoping “it will help current smokers feel motivated to break free from their addiction.”

As always, I want to say a big thank you to all our members who gave me permission to share their stories.

Happy “Spotlight Day”!

Today is the first Wednesday of May and I’m thrilled to share with you some of this week’s most inspiring success stories and tips from the CBQ community.

Inspiring Milestone

Yesterday, CBQ Program member Carol Poste from Ontario, Canada, celebrated 3 years smoke-free! Carol was a smoker for nearly 50 years and suffered from chronic pain. For years, she used smoking as a pain relief until she learned that smoking was making her chronic pain worse! Carol’s surgeon told her “that my spine disks have deteriorated from smoking all these years!!!” With the stress and pressure of an upcoming spine surgery, Carol started looking for ways to quit smoking. After assessing all her options, she decided to join the CBQ Program, and the rest is history!

Since quitting smoking, Carol has had a successful surgery and has saved over 15,000 CAD. Incredible!

This is what Carol recently shared with our community:

Tip of the Week

This week’s tip comes from CBQ Program member Ashley Schmitt from Colorado, US, who celebrated 3 years smoke-free!

Ashley’s tip

“Smoking is a desire which can never be satisfied, the smart thing is to understand we don’t need that kinda desire that will not leave us in peace”

This is what Ashley shared about her 3-year milestone:

3 years Still one of my proudest accomplishments to date. Still forever grateful and sharing about the CBQ Method and how much this has changed the course of my life. I would NEVER go back! #freedom

Happy “Spotlight Day”!

Today, I’m excited to share with you some of this week’s most inspiring success stories and tips from the CBQ community.

Let’s dive in!

Inspiring Transformation

Today, CBQ Program member Valerie Bennett from England, UK, is celebrating 6 years smoke-free! Val’s transformation has been inspirational, to say the least. She used to smoke two packs a day for 40 years. As she told me during our Ask An Ex interview, she didn’t get out of bed in the morning before smoking two cigarettes with her coffee.

One day, while browsing Facebook, Val came across the CBQ Method and, after lots of research, decided to join the CBQ program. She quit “cold turkey” during the CBQ Quit Smoking Program because she just didn’t want to smoke anymore and has not looked back ever since. In her own words, “I am so proud of this achievement – from being in a place where I thought it would be impossible to now being able to wake up knowing I am now a nonsmoker and can do so much more with my life and feel so much better.”

Since quitting smoking, Val has saved over £20,000. A life-changing amount that keeps growing.

Val’s tip: Just take it one day at a time

Inspiring Milestone

This week, CBQ Program member Trevor Starr from Vermont, US, celebrated 7 years smoke-free. 7 years! Trevor was no stranger to quit smoking attempts. He wanted to be healthier, but at the same time, smoking was an inseparable part of his life. As Trevor told me during this Ask An Ex episode, when he came across the CBQ Program, he felt hopeful that it could work. When he started the program, he was still worried about feeling deprived, gaining weight, and failing – but he decided to commit to the process. The result? Trevor quit smoking, completely transformed his life, and lost 35 pounds! He said: “I used to wake up and smoke, then have coffee and smoke, then drive to work and have a smoke. Now, I wake up and exercise every morning, and I love it. I don’t even think about smoking. I love this program, and I’m telling all my smoker friends about it.”

7 years after his quit date, Trevor is still a happy nonsmoker.

Inspiring Mindset

This week, CBQ Program member Courtney Lockburner from New Jersey, US, is celebrating 3 years smoke-free!! After many failed attempts, Courtney decided to commit to the CBQ Program completely. She entered the process with an open mind, chose to believe in herself, and above all, prioritized her quit smoking effort. In her own words “Give yourself the dedicated time for the program. You deserve that.”

Courtney quit while putting her dear grandfather to rest. In her first vacation as a non-smoker she encountered tons of triggers and had only 1 craving. Over the last 3 years, she had no withdrawals. This was possible because Courtney finally knew all smoking ever gave her, was guilt and lies.

A few days ago, Courtney shared that the program is the best thing she’s done for herself.

This is her story in her own words:

Happy “Spotlight Day”!

Today, I’m excited to share with you some of this week’s most inspiring success stories and tips from the CBQ community.

Today’s theme is: “Believe You Can Change”

Inspiring Transformation

CBQ Program member Jacki Kipe from Georgia, US, is celebrating 2 years smoke-free this week! Jacki smoked her first cigarette when she was 13 years old and smoked until 64. Her tongue cancer diagnosis in 2014 couldn’t get her to stop smoking, and only added more pressure on her. But Jacki really wanted to be free, so in 2023 she decided to join the CBQ Quit Smoking Program, and she was successful.

Not only that, it was easy!

Jacki’s husband Derek shared that he quit cold turkey at the same time and had lapses because it was hard. While Jacki reprogrammed her mind and for her it was easy. Not one puff since her freedom date!

This is what Jacki shared a few days ago:

Inspiring Journey

This week, CBQ Program member Shelley Addington from Wisconsin, US, celebrated 4 years smoke-free!! Shelley was smoking 6 cigarettes a day by herself, yet she felt too addicted. Over the years, she had made 7 serious quit attempts, but eventually returned to smoking. Despite feeling fear, Shelley made the decision to join the CBQ Program. She did her very best and succeeded: “I feel a freedom and sense of confidence, pride, calmness I could not maintain while addicted to nicotine.”

Shelley’s journey to success was not smooth sailing. As she said, “It was not a linear journey to my quit, but was a journey of ups and downs, starts and pauses. I was confident, however, that your program was the thing I needed and that I could count on it to support me through to reaching my goal of being a happy non-smoker.”

4 years later, Shelley is happily smoke-free. What’s more, the last few years went by in a flash.

Inspiring Milestone

This week, CBQ Program member Amanda Wheelock from Maine, US, celebrated 6 years smoke-free! 6 whole years!

Amanda said this about quitting smoking: “I just cannot express how much I finally feel like ME!!” and her tip and inspiring words for others were “Dig down as deep as you can and this program can and will be life changing!! I also dropped 7 pounds as an added bonus and my eating habits changed as my smoking did. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!”

by Nasia Davos

Happy “Spotlight Day” and wishing you a Happy Easter in advance!

Today, I’m excited to share with you some of this week’s most inspiring success stories and tips from the CBQ community. Let’s do it 🙂

Inspiring Transformation

This week CBQ Program member Marjorie Ayala from Arizona, US, celebrated 2 years smoke-free! Marj had tried to quit smoking before but nothing worked. She then joined the CBQ Program and even then – her fear caused her to restart the program many times without completing it. Once she committed to finishing the program she was a non-smoker. In her own words, “If I can do it, you can. It’s all about mind set!! Thank Nasia for the program. And all those things in the videos that really struck me and were brutally honest even if I didn’t want them to be.”

2 years later, Marj is healthier than ever and so happy with her decision!

“A success story and forever smoke free. I have been running half marathons and feel better then ever! I looked at smoking as a reward. But actually the reward is not smoking.”

Marj’s tip: Envision your smoke-free life

“Picture yourself smoke free and write what you, think feel what you would do differently. What would you do without worrying about smoke breaks, or sneaking away or having constant anxiety.

It’s really life changing!”

Tip from CBQ Program member Marjorie Ayala

Inspiring Milestone

This week, CBQ Program member Michelle Warnock from Ontario, Canada, celebrated 4 years smoke-free!! 4 years ago, Michelle was worried about how she’d relieve stress without cigarettes, and could not imagine life without smoking. After struggling to quit on her own, Michelle found the CBQ Method and decided to join the CBQ program. She thought she had nothing to lose, and she was right: She quit!

4 years later, she is still cherishing and loving her smoke-free life.

Tip of The Week

This week’s tip comes from CBQ Program member Christine Anderson from California, US. Christine joined the CBQ Program filled with doubt and hope. During the program, she learned the difference between mindpower and willpower, and everything changed for her. She’s been a happy non-smoker since December 29, 2023 and this is her advice:

Christine’s tip: Change your self-talk

“Change the “If I can quit” to “When I quit”…Having smoked for what feels like forever and being a NON-smoker for a little over 15 months now I will tell you the improvements you’ll feel at the gym and even just climbing stairs will make you so happy…Everytime I do an activity with no huffing & puffing or pains in my lungs I think wow just over a year ago I couldn’t even do this without gasping for air and here I am no shortness of breath…So keep the positive thoughts, keep doing the program and you’ll be a non-smoker in no time!!”

Happy “Spotlight Day”!

Today, I’m excited to share with you some of this week’s most inspiring success stories and tips from the CBQ community.

Let’s dive in!

Inspiring Milestone

This week, CBQ Program member Francine Doyon from Ontario, Canada, celebrated 6 years smoke-free! A lifelong smoker, Francine broke free after joining the CBQ Quit Smoking Program. She hasn’t smoked a cigarette since.

After 6 years she said she’s “still smoke free and loving it.” That says it all!

Francine’s tip? Start small.

One of the exercises in the CBQ Quit Smoking Program is to delay the first cigarette of the day using mindpower, not willpower. That exercise was precisely what gave Francine the “aha” moment that she can succeed! And she did!

“The best thing I did was delaying the first cig of the day. It helped my mind realize that I could abstain from smoking for 8+ hours. Eventually I made it to lunch, then after dinner and then just before bed. Eventually i felt so sick having just a few drags it was easy to just go for the full 24 hours and I never looked back.”

This is Francine with her CBQ Success Certificate:

Inspiring Success

This week CBQ Program member Jess Pagano from Australia celebrated 6 months smoke-free! Jess, who’s in her 30s was an avid smoker since her teens. She resolved to take better care of herself. To keep that promise, she tried to quit many times with different medications, NRTs and cold turkey but nothing has ever worked.

“Every quit attempt I felt sad, isolated myself further and further from my smoker friends, and felt like I would never enjoy life again. There was always something that made me relapse & I knew I needed to find answers to these issues, so I started researching and found this program.”

Once she joined the CBQ Program, she made an important decision: to make her success a mental priority. Making her success a priority didn’t mean pausing life. It meant not compromising on her goal to be free, for that would allow her to show up fully in every other area of her life.

This is what happened:

“I realised that previously I was getting too caught up in the future and not taking it one day at a time. This time I took it one exercise, experiment and lesson at a time, and made sure that I maintained my empowering mindset using affirmations that I repeated to myself every morning and night. I also allowed myself to take the time to spend on myself. This meant that I gave myself the time and mental space to complete the program so there was no excuse to stop – this was the priority! And I am so happy that I made it the priority. “

Jess succeeded 6 months ago and she knows this time is different. Why? Because she’s a happy non-smoker!

“I honestly can’t believe it. It’s never been easy for me before. The power of the mind is incredible once you learn how to use it!”

CBQ Program member Jess Pagano highlights the power of the mind

Jess’ tip: take it one day at a time

“Yes, I am still enjoying my smoke-free life and very thankful to you guys for a life-changing course!

I can’t believe I’m nearly at 6 months! When I originally completed that form, my 6-month date seemed so far away that I couldn’t even think about it. I just kept focusing on 1 day at a time and now I’ve blinked and it’s here!”

CBQ Program member Jess Pagano's tip: take it one day at a time

Inspiring Milestone

This week, CBQ Program member Evelyn Neiman Green from North Carolina, US, celebrated 6 years smoke-free! Evelyn was a smoker for 40 years. Her husband also smoked.

As Evelyn told me herself, she had tried to quit before using nicotine patches and e-cigarettes but she always went back to smoking. Her husband went from smoking to vaping and still does both.

That’s how Evelyn knew she needed something different: a process. She joined the CBQ Program, did every step of the process and broke free from nicotine even though her husband smokes. 6 years later, Evelyn is doing so well she even forgot how long she’d been a non-smoker! She also found the right diet for her, and has improved her life in every way! Incredible story!
