CBQ Spotlights

Celebrating YOU: This week’s spotlights [October 15, 2025]

by Nasia Davos

Happy “Spotlight Wednesday”!

Today, I’m excited to share with you some of this week’s most inspiring success stories and tips from the CBQ community.

Inspiring Milestone

This week, CBQ Quit Smoking Program member Angela Shetters from Georgia, US, celebrated 2 years smoke-free! Angela was a smoker for 16 years and her biggest obstacle to quitting smoking was socializing without cigarettes.

After trying to quit on her own many times, Angela found the CBQ masterclass and decided to join the program and give herself the best chance at success.

This is what happened:

“First I just want to say a huge thank you to Nasia for coming up with the CBQ method and also the amazing people that are a part of her team. Not only was I effortlessly able to quit smoking but I also learned so much about my thought patterns and habits. I started smoking as a teenager. I smoked for around 16 years and for most of that I was constantly wishing it was easier to quit.”

Angela’s biggest test came when it was time to socialize with other smokers.

“When I went to a small gathering at some family’s house, everyone there was smoking and I was even offered one and easily turned it down. This feels like a huge accomplishment for me! I have been a little nervous about social situations but now I am relieved that it was so easy.

I love the program I learned so much on ways to be mindful in many areas of my life so thank you for that! And showing me all the tools on how to live a happy smoke free life!! So amazing!!”

This is Angela celebrating her 2 years of freedom!

Inspiring Success

This week, CBQ Quit Smoking Program member Derek Lillie from Canada celebrated 1 year smoke-free.

He found the CBQ Program through his wife Paula, who used it to quit smoking 5 years ago!

Like so many of us, Derek had false starts, but once he made his quit a priority, he was successful.

Now, Paula and Derek are happy non-smokers and so proud of each other and their smoke-free lifestyle!

This is what Derek shared about his 1 year milestone:

Tip of the Week

This week’s tip comes from CBQ Program member Paula Ashley from California, US, who smoked for 50 years and has been smoke-free for a year and a half.

Paula’s tip: Look at your quit smoking journey as exciting, not scary

“YOU WILL LOVE IT! CBQ is a FANTASTIC PROGRAM! I like the fact that Nasia is a former smoker and knows what we go through step by step. I wish I had known about it a long time ago. Look at it as exciting, not scary. This group is wonderful in supporting each other. You are not alone. Happy trails!”

Tip of the Week from Paula Beck Ashley

Happy “Spotlight Wednesday”! As always, I’m excited to share with you some of this week’s most inspiring success stories and tips from the CBQ community.

Inspiring Milestone

This week, CBQ Quit Smoking Program member Patti Murphy from Maryland, US, celebrated 3 years smoke-free after 40 years of smoking!

Patti started smoking when she was a teenager, and tried to quit many times. Even though she was able to abstain from smoking, for years at a time, she had constant cravings, which caused her to relapse. After completing the Cognitive Behavioral Quitting (CBQ) Program in two weeks, Patti quit smoking for good!

Over a year after her quit date, Patti had zero cravings and saved over $4000.

CBQ Program member Patti Murphy experience

3 years later, Patti is still a happy non-smoker.

This is Patti with her CBQ Success Certificate:

Patti’s Tip: Allow yourself to feel the freedom!

“For me it has been a matter of allowing myself to feel the freedom. Sometimes we’re so hung up on a bad habit that we fail to internalize the good we’re doing when we pull away. Try congratulating yourself regularly. Perhaps every time you start obsessing about being smoke free, try replacing those thoughts with positive thoughts, like “Yeh, I’m smoke free!!!!”

CBQ Tip from Patti Murphy

Inspiring Success

This week, our beautiful CBQ Quit Smoking Program member Jessica Pagano from Western Australia celebrated 1 year smoke-free!

Jessica smoked for 13 years and tried quitting with different medications and NRT, but nothing gave her the lasting freedom she was looking for. Deep down, she knew she needed something more, and when she came across the CBQ Quit Smoking Program, she finally felt she had found the answer. And she did!

In her own words: “This was a life-changing program and I cannot believe how easy quitting was! Thank you so much, Nasia, from the bottom of my heart!”

Jessica’s tip for others who are on this journey: “My biggest tip would be to allow yourself the time and mental space to invest fully into the program. I was successful when I stopped making excuses and prioritised my journey.”

This is Jessica holding her CBQ Success Certificate:

Tip of the Week

This week’s tip comes from CBQ Quit Smoking Program member Terna Tilley-Gyado from Massachusetts, US, who’s over 3 years smoke-free!

Terna’s spot-on tips: Be honest with yourself…

CBQ Tip of the Week from Terna Gyado

…and remember how smoking makes you feel.

“I quit while living with a smoker and honestly it was building the habit of mental fortitude to remember that I’m responsible for my own body and that I would only be damaging MYSELF, that helped me stay on my path. Every time I started to get “nostalgic” about smoking, I trained my mind to remember how it literally hurt with every exhale, to remember the scary heart sensations, to remember my certainty that continuing would absolutely kill me. Whatever it is that is motivating you to quit, train your mind to remember that when you see your husband smoking. You can absolutely do it!”

Celebrating YOU: This week’s spotlights [October 1, 2025]

by Nasia Davos

Happy “Spotlight Wednesday” and Happy October! I’m thrilled to share with you this week’s most inspiring success stories and tips from the CBQ community. Let’s dive in.

Inspiring Success

This week, CBQ Quit Smoking Program member Juiniata Webster from New Brunswick, Canada, celebrated 1 year smoke-free! Juiniata was worried that quitting smoking would be too hard, it wouldn’t last, and that she would miss smoking and relapse.

But one day, she came across my TED talk. Then after attending the free masterclass, Juiniata decided to join the program.

Her first aha moment happened on day 7 of the quit smoking program: She realized exactly what void she’d been trying to fill with smoking. And while most of us know we use smoking to fill a void, we don’t always know where that came from and how to feel whole. Juiniata figured it out, and quit smoking on day 10 of the program, as planned.

What happened next? Juiniata is now 1 year smoke-free!

This is what she shared yesterday about her 1-year milestone!

Inspiring Success

This week, CBQ Program member Kathryn Hussie from Pennsylvania, US celebrated 3 years smoke-free! Kate used to love smoking and tried to quit many times, but nothing really worked for her. One day she found the CBQ Method online and watched many of my YouTube videos before deciding to join the CBQ Program.

After completing the program, Kate smoked her last cigarette with ease and without willpower and, to her surprise, found quitting smoking a profound experience. In her own words “This program is truly profound! Not only does it work, but it has given me self-confidence in so many other areas of my life because I have discovered strength I never knew I had!”

3 years later, Kate is still a happy non-smoker.

This is Kate with her CBQ Success Certificate:

Kate’s Tip for the First Smoke-Free Week:

Visualize what you hate about smoking.

Visualize what you hate about smoking – like going outside in the rain and cold to smoke, or going out late at night or super early just because you need them, digging around for your last couple dollars to get a pack, waking up with a scratchy throat, and also the anxiety if you couldn’t smoke when the urge came!

If you have a craving, compare that to how it feels when you are smoking and you can’t find your cigarettes or you need more and can’t get them right away, and how unbearably awful that is!

And then think to yourself that this little craving will pass, and because of that you won’t have those awful awful bouts of needing a cigarette and having all that anxiety about it anymore!

Inspiring Success

This week, CBQ Quit Smoking Program member Michal Sturgess from New South Wales, Australia celebrated 3 years smoke-free and has since saved over AUD $32k!

Michal struggled with anxiety, depression, panic attacks, and undiagnosed ADHD.

While going through the program and after quitting smoking, she realized smoking isn’t helping her cope, it’s masking her emotions and delaying her healing.

“Smoking a cigarette to settle your nerves is like putting a bandaid on gangrene. You can’t see it for a minute but… it does nothing.”

Michal Sturgess CBQ quit smoking journey

3 years after her quit date, Michal has healed many parts of her life and is still a happy non-smoker!

Happy Spotlight Wednesday!

I’m excited to share with you some of this week’s most inspiring success stories and tips from the CBQ community.

Inspiring Milestone

This week, CBQ Quit Smoking Program member Paula Vosko from Colorado, US, celebrated 5 years smoke-free.

Paula smoked for over 50 years and smoking was part of her life. Living with a smoker, socializing, relaxing — everything revolved around cigarettes. But her health was declining and she felt stuck.

After finding the CBQ Quit Smoking Program, Paula decided to join and do every step believing this would work.

And it did.

Paula smoked her last cigarette at the end of the program. She quit at 69 years old, and wants everyone to know that it’s never too late, and freedom feels amazing.

5 years later, she’s still a happy non-smoker!

This is what she recently shared about her achievement:

“Sign up for the amazing 10 day program. It absolutely works. I’m a happy non smoker for almost 5 years now. I cannot begin to explain how wonderful life as a non smoker is.”

CBQ Program member Paula Vosko celebrates 5 years smoke-free

“People say they can’t afford to purchase this program and I get it. But cigarettes are so expensive so you really need to consider that. The program will pay for itself in just a few weeks.”

Inspiring Success

This week, CBQ Quit Smoking Program member Richard Kohn from Missouri, US, celebrated 2 years smoke-free.

In his own words, “Another long time heavy smoker who thought he’d never quit. Thank you CBQ for showing me how! I’m happy to report that I’m smoke free thanks to the CBQ program! I’m delighted to share my success with everyone on your webpage. The program taught me how to use mindpower to achieve my goal and I felt the program was very well thought out and easy to follow.”

2 years later, Rick is still a happy non-smoker, his health is improving, and he has lost 50 pounds!

“Thank you again for showing me the way. My health is improving and I’m working on losing weight. Last year I lost about 50 lbs!”

CBQ Program member Rick Kohn celebrates 2 years smoke-free

Inspiring Milestone

This week, CBQ Quit Smoking Program member Teri Edge from West Virginia, US, celebrated 4 years smoke-free. Teri smoked for 44 years and made many quit attempts. As she told me herself, she tried hypnosis (both in individual and group settings), quit smoking apps, the American Heart Association, and more!

As a retired psychiatric nurse, Teri knew how smoking affected her body and her mind, but her knowledge didn’t make it any easier to stop.

After coming across the CBQ Program online, she knew it was something different and wanted to give it a shot. Despite feeling afraid and doubtful, she followed the program to the letter, and the rest is history. Not only she succeeded, she also found quitting smoking EASY!

“Thank You for helping me and so many other people to stop smoking and overeating without using willpower with the two brilliant programs you created that actually are lifesaving!!!”

Teri is simply amazing! You can watch her sharing her story of how she quit smoking with the Cognitive Behavioral Quitting (CBQ) Program and the tips that helped her change her relationship with smoking for good.

Happy “Spotlight Day”!

Today, I’m excited to share with you some of this week’s most inspiring success stories and tips from the CBQ community.

Let’s dive in!

Inspiring Freedom

This week, CBQ Quit Smoking Program member Jenna Force from Arizona, US celebrated 2 years smoke-free.

Jenna used to smoke for 25 years and then vaped for 5 years non-stop. She felt too addicted and didn’t believe she could ever be free.

After joining the program, she did all the steps and had her last vape.

The result? She has zero desire to smoke or vape.

She’s free!

If you feel afraid, worried, or doubtful you’ll ever be free, know you’re not alone.

This is what Jenna recently shared with our program members group:

“On September 10, 2023 I felt the same exact way. I believe in this program more than I believe in most things because I am celebrating two years on the 11th of this month. I can be around nicotine in a vape or cigarette and I do not care for it at all. I have zero desire. I am grateful to wake up each day not seeking/craving nicotine so intensely I cant think of anything else! I just simply don’t want it. I got my life back.

I smoked for 25 years, I double fisted vapes for the last five- no joke one in each hand.

Today, I don’t even think about it anymore. You can. You will. Keep shining and get excited about this next chapter, it’s amazing!”

CBQ program member Jenna Force is still smoke-free

Inspiring Milestone

This week, CBQ Quit Smoking Program member Pauline Westfield from England, UK celebrated 6 years smoke-free! When she first joined the CBQ Program, Pauline was not at all excited to say goodbye to her cigarettes. She enjoyed smoking a lot, but after smoking for over 40 years up to 30 a day, she felt she had to quit – or at least try.

Despite being skeptical, Pauline did every exercise and every step outlined in the CBQ Program. By day 5 of the program, she felt excited to quit. By day 8, she couldn’t wait! She smoked her last cigarette.

And 6 years later, she’s still a happy non-smoker!

Now Pauline is over 70 years old and feels like 20. Her inspiring journey started when she attended the free CBQ webinar 6 years ago.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Pauline as part of CBQ’s Ask An Ex series. You can watch Pauline sharing her story of how she quit smoking with the Cognitive Behavioral Quitting (CBQ) Program:

Inspiring Quit Smoking Benefits

This week, CBQ Quit Smoking Program member Gary Richmond from Michigan, US, celebrated 4 years smoke-free. While interviewing Gary, he told me he smoked his first cigarette when he was just 13 years old. Then, he said, “I smoked for 33 years up to 2 packs a day”. He tried to quit on his own but it didn’t stick. He even switched to vaping but ended up smoking and vaping.

After coming across the CBQ Method, Gary decided to join the members’ program and give it a try. To his surprise, by day 10 of the program he could not smoke more than 2 cigarettes. He quit, and 4 years later, he’s still a happy non-smoker… who has saved over $10000 from not smoking.

Happy “Spotlight Day”! Today I’m excited to share with you this week’s most inspiring success stories and tips from the CBQ community.

Inspiring Story

This week, CBQ Quit Smoking Program member Angela Battista from Massachusetts, US, celebrated 2 years smoke-free!

After smoking for 48 years and trying everything from nicotine gums and patches to going cold turkey, Angela broke free on September 7, 2023!

But her journey started years before that. Angela joined the program in 2021 but didn’t initially go through it. She said, “I purchased the program in 2021. There were many reasons (excuses) for not completing it then.”

However, after completing the 12-day program, everything changed: “I ended my relationship with cigarettes and am now smoke-free. I tried to quit many times before CBQ, but I always went back. This time, I have zero desire to smoke. I’ve even saved enough money by not smoking to pay for the program and more.”

Most importantly, despite having mild-emphysema, Angela’s breathing improved within a year of quitting smoking!

Angela Battista shares her quit smoking benefits

Three days ago, Angela shared with our members group that she STILL has no desire to smoke!

“Feel great, the days fly by without even the thought of a cigarette.”
