Celebrating YOU: This week’s spotlights [September 4, 2024]

by Nasia Davos

Happy “Spotlight Day”! I’m thrilled to share with you this week’s most inspiring success stories and tips from the CBQ community. Let’s spread some inspiration!

Inspiring Transformation

This week, CBQ Program member Scotty Smith from California, US, celebrated 1 year smoke-free. Scotty started smoking in high school and had been smoking all his life. He had tried every option to quit but nothing worked. At 71 years old, he had almost given up hope that he would ever be free, until he came across the CBQ Program. Scotty saw this was an award-winning program different from everything else and he really wanted to try it, so he asked his wife if they could afford him joining. She said YES and their lives changed forever!

Not only did Scotty quit smoking successfully a year ago… he used the CBQ Program lessons to also quit alcohol and weed 7 months ago!

3 months after his quit date, Scotty shared this:

1 year later, he’s still over the moon with his success!

Tip of the Week

This week’s tip comes from CBQ Program member Teri Edge from West Virginia, US, a smoker of 44 years who will be celebrating 3 years smoke-free later this month!

Before quitting smoking with the CBQ Program, Teri had tried hypnosis (both in individual and group settings), quit smoking apps, the American Heart Association, and more!

After joining the CBQ Program, she found quitting smoking EASY!

Below are Teri’s tips to success:

  1. Make a commitment with yourself that you will quit no matter what happens.
  2. Trust the program and follow it as well as you possibly can (because it does work)
  3. Stay positive! You absolutely can and will quit!

It works, I promise!!! I smoked for 44 years. Sept. 19th will be 3 years smoke free!! Believe me if I can do this, anyone can. Do the work. You are worth it!!! You won’t believe how great it feels to be free!!!

Inspiring Achievement

This week, CBQ Program member Mark Spong from Canberra, Australia shared with our members group his success photo to celebrate his 1 year-milestone!

Mark was a skeptic who thought willpower was – hard, but – the only way to quit smoking. After completing the CBQ Program he smoked his last cigarette and has remained smoke-free without any willpower!

This is Mark’s post with his CBQ Success Certificate:

And as always, I want to say a huge thank you to our amazing CBQ Program members who have given me permission to share their stories!

Celebrating YOU: This week’s spotlights [August 21, 2024]

by Nasia Davos

Happy “Spotlight Day”! I’m excited to share with you this week’s most inspiring success stories and tips from the CBQ community. Let’s do it!

Inspiring Family

This week CBQ Program member Sarah Tawil from New York, US, shared with our members group that she and her mom are both nearing 4 years completely nicotine-free!

Sarah’s motivation to quit smoking was her health and her dream of having an amazing smile. She told me “the real reason I quit because I wanted both a nice smile and teeth. Happy to say, I fixed my teeth and have my amazing smile.” In the process of achieving this dream, Sarah inspired her mom and they’re both now happy non-smokers!

Inspiring Milestone

This week, CBQ Program member Ashley West Hilliard from Texas, US, celebrated 4 years smoke-free!

Ashley was terrified of quitting smoking. Even though she’d successfully become sober over a decade ago, quitting smoking was the one thing (she thought) she couldn’t do. Before an attempt, she would cry to her husband telling him how afraid she was. After joining the CBQ Program, she realized that there was nothing to be afraid of!

On her 2nd anniversary, Ashley said: “I truly NEVER thought I could quit smoking. When I say never, I really mean that. I started smoking before I was 10 years old (I am not sure of the exact age) and I smoked for 25 years, minus 2 pregnancies. I had all of the reasons why I couldn’t and didn’t want to quit but the CBQ method helped me see how false those beliefs were. I can truly say that I have not wanted to smoke since the day I quit. “

4 years after her quit date, Ashley is still a happy non-smoker!

Inspiring Success

This week, CBQ Program member Dixie Taylor from British Columbia, Canada, celebrated 2 years smoke-free! Dixie never believed she could quit smoking without missing it, yet that’s exactly what she accomplished.

Celebrating YOU: This week’s spotlights [August 14, 2024]

by Nasia Davos

Happy “Spotlight Day”! You’ll absolutely love this week’s most inspiring success stories and tips from the CBQ community. Our members have shared some life-changing stories!

Inspiring Milestone

This week, CBQ Program member Larry Johnson from Washington, US, celebrated 4 years smoke-free…. after being a smoker for 50 years!

Larry said, “I tried many times to quit. I would quit for a few days or a week and then back to smoking. After going through the CBQ program something in my brain switched and I simply no longer needed to smoke.”

Just 2 months ago, Larry shared that he has saved over $14,700, has avoided 42,000 cigarettes and does not miss smoking AT ALL!

CBQ Program member Larry Johnson shared how he avoid 42,000 cigarettes and saved thousands after quitting smoking.

This is Larry with his CBQ Success Certificate:

Tip of the Week

This week’s tip comes from CBQ Program member Michal Sturgess from New South Wales, Australia who will be 2 years smoke-free in September! Since quitting smoking, she has saved over AUD $32k!

Michal’s tip: Smoking a cigarette to settle your nerves is like putting a bandaid on gangrene. You can’t see it for a minute but…. it does nothing.

In her own words:

“By the 27th September this year I will be 2 years smoke free.

As of today I have saved over $32,000.00 and not smoked over 13,000 ciggarettes

The program literally pays for itself.

(Many extra times over if you live in Australia where ciggarettes are SO expensive).

And that’s before we even get into the tax on your social life, physical and mental wellbeing.

Sending best wishes out to everyone still working with themselves to quit. It is worth the sweat, sick and struggle with self, thousands of times over.

Smoking a cigarette to settle your nerves is like putting a bandaid on gangrene. You can’t see it for a minute but….

It is not your friend. It will not save you or make things better/ easier. YOU will save you and YOU will make you life shine brighter x”

Inspiring Transformation: Breaking a 61-Year Addiction

This week, CBQ Program member Gary Brousell from Florida, US, celebrated 1 year smoke-free, and he’s an inspiration!

Gary smoked his first cigarette when he was 13 years old and continued to smoke for the next 61 years, with many attempts to stop.

Gary Brousell quit smoking after 51 years

Gary said, “While recovering from Back Surgery, I decided now was the time to stop and to free myself from the restrictions and smoking and vaping imposes on activities of all kinds. Recovering from surgery provided me with all kinds of triggers that I learned to overcome by taking the classes every day.”

“Through many trials, I have not seen cigarettes as a potential help to cope with anything. That’s one of your mindfulness pieces that has stuck in my thought process..

I suffer from Major depression and GAD. Being smokeless hasn’t made my conditions worse, nor would smoking make me better. Smoking needs to be seen as irrelevant to the human existence. Anyway, that’s how I see it now. Once an essential and controlling part of my life for 61 years, smoking is not going to help me or negatively effect my emotional conditions. DONE.

Thank you for your dedication to helping people get free from being trapped in one of the most unhealthy activities.”

Wise words!

A year later, Gary is still a happy non-smoker:

Celebrating YOU: This week’s spotlights [August 7, 2024]

by Nasia Davos

Happy “Spotlight Day”! This is the first spotlight of August and has inside this week’s most inspiring success stories (and tips) from the CBQ community.

Inspiring Milestone

Today CBQ Program member Debbie Rybka from Pennsylvania, US is celebrating 4 years smoke-free! Debbie was a smoker for 50 years. She had tried hypnosis, Chantix and nicotine patches but quitting was so hard and nothing stuck. After attending the free CBQ webinar, Debbie decided to join the CBQ Program. At first, she was scared to set her quit date, but by the end of the program everything had fallen into place and Debbie could not believe how easy it was!

4 years later, Debbie is still a happy non-smoker! This is the beautiful Debbie with her CBQ Success Certificate:

Inspiring Freedom

This week, CBQ Program member Michael J. Delaney from South Carolina, US celebrated his birthday and 4 months smoke-free. Michael was such an avid smoker, that Marlboro shamelessly sent him coupons every year so he can remain loyal to them.

Not anymore.

After completing the CBQ Program, Michael took back his power and feels amazing. This is the first time in over 45 years, that Michael celebrated his birthday as a non-smoker.

This is what he said:

Tip of the Week

This week’s tip comes from CBQ Program member Tim Roberts from Queensland, Australia who celebrated 2 years smoke-free on the 10th of July! Tim also shared with our members that he used the CBQ Program to also change his relationship with food, and lost 28kg (60 pounds)!

This is Tim’s tip for those struggling with unhelpful eating habits: start by changing how you see yourself.

“it’s more about the philosophy of CBQ, like seeing myself as a non smoker rather than a deprived smoker I changed my attitude to food to see myself not as a deprived eater on a diet but a changed eater with a new approach to the food I eat. I have always yo-yoed with diets because I saw myself as deprived so as soon as I stopped dieting on the weight would go again. Now I just see myself as eating differently which really is very different to how I used to eat. I don’t see myself dieting anymore, just changed in the way and what I eat.”

In January 2025, CBQ will be launching a healthy weight loss program called “CBQ Program for Food Freedom”. If you want to receive information about it before it launches, show your interest by clicking here.

And as always, I want to say a big thank you to our amazing CBQ Program members who have given me permission to share their stories!

Celebrating YOU: This week’s spotlights [July 31, 2024]

by Nasia Davos

Happy “Spotlight Day”! I’m very excited to share with you this week’s new and most inspiring success stories (and tips) from the CBQ community.

Let’s do it!

Inspiring Milestone

This week, CBQ Program member Chris Waltman from Wisconsin, US, celebrated 2 years smoke-free! Chris smoked 1 to 2 packs a day for 35 years and tried quitting dozens of times. But he never stayed smoke-free for more than a month “because it was always a replacement method or just forcing myself to quit. A couple things happened in my life and I was ready to try again. I found the CBQ method online and it looked interesting! I didn’t have anything to lose, so I tried it. WOW!”

2 years after the CBQ Program, Chris has not had a single cigarette!

Inspiring Success

This week, CBQ Program member Leah Hackett from Ontario, Canada celebrated 1 year smoke-free. Leah wanted (and tried) to stop smoking for a long time, but never imagined it would be possible or easy! It was.

Tip of the Week

This week’s tip comes from CBQ Program member Amber McKinney from Texas, US, who quit vaping after 20 years on January 13, 2023. Amber recently shared an incredible tip on how to think about nicotine addiction:

You do not need nicotine, the addiction does.

“You can do this! The addiction in your body is trying to win. You get to decide who wins. Oxygen or poison? Take as much time as you need to re-wire your brain. You do not need nicotine, the addiction does.

I’ve been free over a year and it was the best decision of my life. Can’t believe I didn’t do it sooner! You’ve got this!”
