Celebrating YOU: This week’s spotlights [June 26, 2024]

by Nasia Davos

Happy “Spotlight Day”! I’m very excited to share with you this week’s new and most inspiring success stories (and tips) from the CBQ community.

Let’s do it!

Inspiring Journey

CBQ Program member Debra Matzen from Wisconsin, US, celebrated 1 year smoke-free this week, and she had an incredible transformation!

At first, Debra was skeptical that anything would actually work for her, since she was smoking for 55 years. When she heard people saying if they could quit anyone could, her silent response was “sure”. (And she’s not alone!)

This is what Debra shared within a week of her quit…. Scroll all the way down to see what she said 1 year later.

….1 year later…

THIS was Debra’s email this week!

“Thank you so much! Quitting is something I never thought I could do.  I was pretty enslaved to cigarettes and actually panicked if I couldn’t have one.  I think I would still be smoking today if it weren’t for your program.  Who’d have thought that changing your mind could change your life in so many ways?”

1 year later, CBQ Program member Debra Matzen is still smoke-free

Inspiring Milestone

This week, Joe Wilson from England, UK celebrated 3 years smoke-free! After smoking heavily for 25 years, Joe quit smoking on June 20, 2021, on Father’s Day. He also wrote a goodbye letter during the CBQ Course, in the form of an amazing poem and listed all the reasons why he didn’t want tobacco in his life any more.

Here it is:

Two fingers to the Toxic Trickster
Goodbye, good riddance
You’ve always been my go-to
When I need to take time out
To switch off, to relax with
To run away to and explore my doubts
Farewell, Adieu

You’ve always been a poisonous reward
A void in my routine
A sewer of escape to nowhere
But spiralling around in a cycle of despair
Ta-ra duck, I’m done
Cos you’re just not right
For me, at all, any more
I cannot keep going
back and forth with you

Szia, we’re over
I hate how I’ve had to plan
My day, my life around you
It’s distasteful how you’ve made
My mouth taste so monstrous
My gums gone infected
My teeth rotting in their sockets
I’ve been such a Muppet

But now I see the hold that you’ve held over me
The trick on my mind that I need you to exist
But I don’t, I never did
Two fingers to the toxic trickster
I’ve outgrown this toxic relationship, here it ends
I choose to be present, for my family and my friends
Clean lungs, full of energy, free to be me
No fear, no worries, an incredible future I can see
All you’ve ever brought me is trouble

I hate the regret
I’ve decided it’s time for me to move onAnd be smoke-free again
As I was when I was born
I deserve for me to be free
A happy non-smoker
Now I’m putting myself first
I’ve dismantled you as a limiting belief
Your illusion’s totally burst
You have no power, over me, any more
So don’t call
Two fingers, to you, Toxic trickster
And that’s all
Sincerely, your ex
The authentic Joe says so

Thank you for sharing this, Joe!

Tip of the Week

This week’s tip comes from our wonderful CBQ Program member Louise McAdam from Dublin, Ireland who celebrated 5 months smoke-free and beat cancer! She’s an absolute inspiration.

Louise’s tip: Let your craving thoughts float by.

What has worked best for me is just letting any craving thoughts float away like clouds in the sky. From the day I made my decision to quit during the CBQ Method to Quit Smoking program I never interacted with a craving thought again. As soon as one came I would say to myself or out loud, no thank you, float on by. I replaced my smoking habit with deep breaths and this has worked wonders for me too. Best of luck Kirsty, I truly hope you gain your freedom soon, once you do you will never want to return to smoking again.

As always, I want to say a big thank you to our amazing CBQ Program members who have given me permission to share their stories!

Celebrating YOU: This week’s spotlights [June 19, 2024]

by Nasia Davos

It’s “Spotlight Day”!

Today, I’m super excited to share with you some of this week’s most inspiring stories and tips from the CBQ Community!

Let’s do it!

Inspiring Milestone

This week, CBQ Program member Luzia Dominguez from Wales, UK, celebrated 2 years smoke-free! Luzia was a smoker for all of her life. Over the years, she’s made 7 serious quit attempts but none of them lasted. Luzia first found the CBQ community through our free videos and resources. And after a couple of weeks, she decided to join the CBQ Program.

At first, she had lots of fear and kept postponing her quit date. But after finishing the program “it all clicked” (as promised!!)

2 years later, Luzia still feels free and does not want to smoke again!!

Tip of the Week

This week’s tip comes from CBQ Program member Marj Ayala from Arizona, US, who quit smoking over a year ago on April 16, 2023!!

Since last year, Marj has been prioritizing her health and is feeling the best she’s felt in years!

This is Marj’s powerful tip:

“Picture yourself smoke free and write what you, think feel what you would do differently. What would you do without worrying about smoke breaks, or sneaking away or having constant anxiety.

It’s really life changing!”

And this is Marj with her CBQ Success Certificate:

Inspiring Transformation

This week, CBQ Program member Debbie Thomas-Smith from Illinois, US, celebrated 6 months smoke-free.

This is what Debbie shared on her testimony: “I never really tried to quit smoking before. It would always be my New Years Resolution. It came and went as quickly as the stroke of midnight. Over the years, it became an unhappy habit. No one in my household smoked, and I felt uneasy smoking in my own home. It was at the end of November 2023. I prayed again asking God to help me get rid of this desire. Mind you, I had been praying for a while – I wasn’t ready to quit. This time I knew in my heart (and so did God) that I was finally done with smoking. I found CBQ and the rest is history. “

6 months later, Debbie is still a happy non-smoker! This is what she shared with our community this week:

Happy “Spotlight Day”! This Wednesday I’m thrilled to share with you some of the best tips and inspiring stories from the CBQ Community!

Inspiring Milestone

Today, CBQ Program member Irene Alldred from Ontario, Canada, is celebrating 4 years smoke-free. She broke a 52-year addiction on the 12th of June 2020.

Inspiring Quit Smoking Benefits

Two days ago, CBQ Program member Rhonda Peppers from Arkansas, US, celebrated 2 years smoke-free! Rhonda was struggling to quit smoking for years, so when she came across the CBQ Program she decided to give it a try. The results surprised her! In Rhonda’s words: “I recommend the 12-day program. It’s pricey but paid for itself in 2 months of no cigarettes. I quit cigarettes on June 10th and feel very confident. It requires some real personal work but helps you make permanent changes in your thinking.”

2 years later, Rhonda is still a happy non-smoker and believes that investing in the program (and above all, investing in herself) was worth it.

This is what she recently shared:

CBQ Program member Rhonda Peppers saying the program was the best money she ever spent.

Rhonda’s tip for social situations: “Remember to focus on your thoughts and what you are telling yourself about the ritual and bonding with your husband. The cigarette is lying to you… it is NOT the cigarette that bonds. It’s the quality, focused time together.”

Inspiring Story

This week, CBQ Program member Becky Block From Australia, celebrated 2 years smoke-free! Becky was a light smoker of 12-13 cigarettes a day. Due to battling anxiety and depression, Becky worried if she’d be able to cope without cigarettes. But after joining the CBQ Program she realized why she could. In her own words:

“I have the “A and D” combo myself, Highly recommend CBQ program. My confidence built higher and higher all the way through, until I simply “couldn’t see myself smoking any more ciggies”. I literally couldn’t picture myself smoking. I just knew I was going to WIN, and SO WILL YOU….Tell the world that it needs to prepare itself for the new, more powerful version of you.

Sharing my replacement activities with the community: (1) “nadi shodhana pranayama” aka Alternate Nostril Breathing; or (2) do a Plank!”

Inspiring Story

This week, CBQ Program member Angela Pinder from England, UK, celebrated 2 years smoke-free! Angela used to smoke 40 to 60 cigarettes a day for 25 years. Every quit attempt, and she’d made so many, ended in total deprivation and misery. After finding the CBQ Program, Angela felt hopeful it could work, so she joined. And even though she remained skeptical until the very end, she succeeded!

When Angela’s mom fell ill and eventually passed away, Angela did not relapse. Instead, she felt proud she was a non-smoker. This is what she shared with our members’ community:

Tip of the Week

This week’s tip comes from CBQ Program member Marilou Russo from Arizona, US, who has been a happy non-smoker since June 22, 2021. Nearly 3 years ago, when Marilou was approaching her quit date, she got into a full-blown panic. Here’s how she handled it and ended up being successful:

Marilou’s tip: Panic is a sign to prepare better.

“I worked my way through the program, setting my quit date targeted for the program. Low and behold, I get to the quit date, I go into a FULL blown panic!!!! I moved my quit date a few days, reviewed some of the courses. Ta da!!!! Accomplished, SUCCESSFULLY!!! I have been smoke-free coming up on 3 years this June (I think it’s 3!! Times flying). My only regret? Not finding CBQ sooner. You’ve got this, don’t let the addiction control you, you control the addiction.”

Inspiring Story

This week, CBQ Program member Stan Spadoni from Ontario, Canada, celebrated 6 months vape-free! Stan was a smoker who transitioned to vaping. Special Invite: Join the FREE CBQ Better Mental Health Challenge

A few days ago, during a (rare) sunny day in London, I was taking a walk while reading some of your comments and emails. Apart from quitting smoking and vaping, many of you are asking me questions related to mental health, emotional management, and generally how to live healthier and happier lives.

I truly believe our mental health determines the quality of our lives and how successful we are in any goal – quitting smoking, reducing stress, even losing weight.

So, there and then, I decided to create something that could help the entire CBQ community:

Celebrating YOU: This week’s spotlights [May 22, 2024]

by Nasia Davos

Happy “Spotlight Day”! Today I’m excited to share with you this week’s most inspiring success stories and tips from the CBQ community…. including a brand new Ask An Ex episode!

Inspiring Story

Meet CBQ Program member Tim Roberts from Queensland, Australia who has been a happy non-smoker since July 8, 2022. Nearly 2 years! But Tim’s journey to success had lots of ups and downs.

Tim smoked his first cigarette when he was 14 years old and smoked on and off for over 50 years. Throughout life, he also became addicted to alcohol and food. He was, as he told me a “perfectionist emotional cripple” and vices became his go to coping mechanisms. Even though Tim eventually quit alcohol, he could not let go of his cigarettes (a story I know many of you share).

But after joining the CBQ Program, Tim became a happy non-smoker. Soon after his quit date, Tim used the CBQ Program to also change his relationship with food, and lost 28kg (60 pounds)!

In this new Ask An Ex interview, Tim openly shares his life, the tragedy that caused him to relapse in the past, and what he did differently this time. Above all, he is sharing his biggest aha moments with the CBQ Program that helped him break free.

Watch Tim sharing his story here:

Inspiring Success: Smoke-Free After 56 Years

This week, CBQ Program member Mary Anne DiNublia from California, US, celebrated 1 year smoke-free. Mary Anne broke a 56-year addiction! After nearly 6 decades of smoking and multiple failed attempts, she never imagined this program would work, but she wanted to try, and she succeeded!

In her own words “I smoked for 56 years and all my past attempts at quitting failed, so I was surprised and elated that this method worked.” “This program helped me develop self-mastery over my life, making me feel empowered. My life keeps getting better and better without the mental and physical addiction pulling me down. Thank you Nasia and the team at CBQ for giving me back my life.”

Since quitting smoking, Mary Anne feels better physically and mentally. She’s happier!

Inspiring Milestone

A few days ago, CBQ Program member Lisa Cunningham from British Columbia, Canada, celebrated 2 years smoke-free. After tons of research Lisa joined the CBQ Program with the desire to cut down on her smoking, and hopefully… quit. She wasn’t sure if she could stop smoking completely. All she knew is that she would do her best.

On Day 10 of the program, Lisa smoked her last cigarette and the rest is history. “Smoked my last cigarette at 9:30 p.m. May 17 crushed it, did everything according to plan. This really is an amazing program.”

This is the advice Lisa shared with the CBQ Community:
