Happy “Spotlight Day”! October is here, and I’m thrilled to share with you this week’s most inspiring success stories and tips from the CBQ community. Let’s dive in.
Inspiring Success
This week, CBQ Program member Kathryn Hussie from Pennsylvania, US celebrated 2 years smoke-free! Kathryn used to love smoking and tried to quit many times, but nothing really worked for her. One day she found the CBQ Method online and watched many of my YouTube videos before deciding to join the CBQ Program.
After completing the program, Kathryn smoked her last cigarette with ease and without willpower and, to her surprise, found quitting smoking a profound experience. In her own words “This program is truly profound! Not only does it work, but it has given me self-confidence in so many other areas of my life because I have discovered strength I never knew I had!”
2 years later, Kathryn is still a happy non-smoker.
This is Kathryn with her CBQ Success Certificate:
Kathryn’s Tip for The First Smoke-Free Week:
Visualize what you hate about smoking.
Visualize what you hate about smoking – like going outside in the rain and cold to smoke, or going out late at night or super early just because you need them, digging around for your last couple dollars to get a pack, waking up with a scratchy throat, and also the anxiety if you couldn’t smoke when the urge came!
If you have a craving, compare that to how it feels when you are smoking and you can’t find your cigarettes or you need more and can’t get them right away, and how unbearably awful that is!
And then think to yourself that this little craving will pass, and because of that you won’t have those awful awful bouts of needing a cigarette and having all that anxiety about it anymore!
Inspiring Milestone
This week, CBQ Program member Maria Martinez from New Mexico, US, celebrated 4 years smoke-free! Maria smoked for 35 years and never tried to quit before because she thought she couldn’t do it. “I smoked for 35 years, I never tried quitting because I just figured I could never do it. Just the thought of not having cigarettes filled me with dread. I couldn’t see myself as not smoking, because it was such a huge part of my life and my identity. I wasn’t even sure I’d be able to drive without smoking! When I came across your Program it just made a lot of sense and it was going to be gradual, no one was going to take my cigarettes away from me until I was ready.”
2 years ago, Maria lost her two dogs, who, for her, were part of her family. Despite going through a grieving period, Maria’s commitment to being smoke-free never wavered.
4 years after her quit date, Maria is still a happy and free non-smoker!
And as always, I want to say a huge thank you to our amazing CBQ Program members who have given me permission to share their stories!
