Happy “Spotlight Wednesday” and Happy October! I’m thrilled to share with you this week’s most inspiring success stories and tips from the CBQ community. Let’s dive in.
Inspiring Success
This week, CBQ Quit Smoking Program member Juiniata Webster from New Brunswick, Canada, celebrated 1 year smoke-free! Juiniata was worried that quitting smoking would be too hard, it wouldn’t last, and that she would miss smoking and relapse.
But one day, she came across my TED talk. Then after attending the free masterclass, Juiniata decided to join the program.
Her first aha moment happened on day 7 of the quit smoking program: She realized exactly what void she’d been trying to fill with smoking. And while most of us know we use smoking to fill a void, we don’t always know where that came from and how to feel whole. Juiniata figured it out, and quit smoking on day 10 of the program, as planned.
What happened next? Juiniata is now 1 year smoke-free!
This is what she shared yesterday about her 1-year milestone!
Inspiring Success
This week, CBQ Program member Kathryn Hussie from Pennsylvania, US celebrated 3 years smoke-free! Kate used to love smoking and tried to quit many times, but nothing really worked for her. One day she found the CBQ Method online and watched many of my YouTube videos before deciding to join the CBQ Program.
After completing the program, Kate smoked her last cigarette with ease and without willpower and, to her surprise, found quitting smoking a profound experience. In her own words “This program is truly profound! Not only does it work, but it has given me self-confidence in so many other areas of my life because I have discovered strength I never knew I had!”
3 years later, Kate is still a happy non-smoker.
This is Kate with her CBQ Success Certificate:
Kate’s Tip for the First Smoke-Free Week:
Visualize what you hate about smoking.
Visualize what you hate about smoking – like going outside in the rain and cold to smoke, or going out late at night or super early just because you need them, digging around for your last couple dollars to get a pack, waking up with a scratchy throat, and also the anxiety if you couldn’t smoke when the urge came!
If you have a craving, compare that to how it feels when you are smoking and you can’t find your cigarettes or you need more and can’t get them right away, and how unbearably awful that is!
And then think to yourself that this little craving will pass, and because of that you won’t have those awful awful bouts of needing a cigarette and having all that anxiety about it anymore!
Inspiring Success
This week, CBQ Quit Smoking Program member Michal Sturgess from New South Wales, Australia celebrated 3 years smoke-free and has since saved over AUD $32k!
Michal struggled with anxiety, depression, panic attacks, and undiagnosed ADHD.
While going through the program and after quitting smoking, she realized smoking isn’t helping her cope, it’s masking her emotions and delaying her healing.
“Smoking a cigarette to settle your nerves is like putting a bandaid on gangrene. You can’t see it for a minute but… it does nothing.”
3 years after her quit date, Michal has healed many parts of her life and is still a happy non-smoker!
This is what she shared yesterday about her journey:
